Air Duct Camera Inspection Service in Ontario & Quebec

A camera inspection shows you exactly what is hiding inside your air ducts and dryer vent before you spend a dollar on repairs or cleaning. Dust, debris, pest nests, disconnected joints and moisture stains stay invisible from the vent cover, but a high-definition inspection camera sees all of it.
BlueGuard technicians feed a 32 ft extendable camera line deep into your supply lines, return lines and dryer vent and record what they find. NADCA certified. Starting at $149. Serving homes across Ontario and Quebec.

BlueGuard Camera Inspection Process

Step1

System Walkthrough

Your BlueGuard technician starts by asking what you have noticed at home: dusty rooms, weak airflow, musty smells or a dryer that takes too long. We then walk through the furnace area and locate every supply vent, return vent and the dryer vent exit so the camera inspection covers the areas that matter most. This short conversation helps us plan the route of the camera and focus on the rooms where you have concerns.

Step2

Accessing the Vents

Next, the vent covers in the areas being inspected are carefully removed and the access points near the main trunk line are prepared. No cutting or drilling is needed for a standard camera inspection. We protect your floors and keep the work area clean from the moment we arrive. In most homes we only need the vent openings and the access area at the furnace, so the visit stays quick and tidy.

Step3

Camera Setup

The technician connects a high-definition inspection camera with built-in LED lighting to a 32 ft extendable line. The live picture appears on a screen in real time, so you can stand beside the technician and see the inside of your ductwork as the camera moves forward. Our cameras are made for tight duct runs and bends, so the picture stays sharp even in narrow branch lines.

Step4

Supply Line Inspection

The camera travels through the supply lines that carry warm and cool air to every room. We look for dust layers, renovation debris, loose insulation, crushed or disconnected sections and any blockage that is restricting airflow to bedrooms or upper floors. Photos are taken at every important point, so you have proof of the exact location and condition of each finding.

Step5

Return & Trunk Line Inspection

Return lines pull air back to the furnace and usually collect the heaviest buildup in the home. The camera inspection follows the returns into the main trunk line to check for pet hair, drywall dust, pest droppings, moisture stains and other contaminants that recirculate through your system. If your home has an air exchanger or ventilation fans, we can check those connections too while the camera is set up.

Step6

Dryer Vent Inspection

A clogged dryer vent is one of the leading causes of house fires. When requested, we run the camera through the dryer vent line to find lint packs, crushed flex hose, bird nests and blocked exits so you know exactly where the restriction is and how serious it is. We also check the exterior exit flap to make sure it opens freely and is not blocked by nests, ice or debris.

Step7

Photo & Video Review

Before leaving, we sit down with you and review the photos and video captured during the camera inspection. Every finding is explained in plain language, so you understand what is normal, what needs attention and what can safely wait. You keep the images for your records. If cleaning or repairs are needed, we give you honest options and a clear price so you can decide what to do next.

Step8

Additional service

Duct Cleaning

If the camera inspection shows heavy buildup or blockages, BlueGuard can clean your air ducts or dryer vent using truck-mounted vacuums and source-removal tools. After cleaning, we can run the camera again so you see the before and after results on screen with your own eyes. Booking the camera inspection and cleaning on the same visit saves you time and a second appointment.

Your ductwork runs behind walls, under floors and above ceilings, which means most homeowners have never seen the inside of it. A professional camera inspection changes that. Instead of guessing whether your ducts need cleaning or repair, you get clear photos and video of their real condition, room by room.

Over the years, dust, pet hair, drywall dust from renovations and even small pests can collect deep inside supply and return lines. Joints can come apart, flexible ducts can sag or crush, and moisture can leave stains that point to bigger problems. None of this is visible from the vent cover, but all of it affects your indoor air quality, comfort and heating bills.

A duct camera inspection is the smartest first step when you have just bought a home, finished a renovation, noticed weak airflow in certain rooms or smell something musty when the furnace runs. It is also useful before you book a cleaning, because the footage shows exactly how much buildup is inside your system and where it is concentrated.

At BlueGuard Duct Cleaning, every camera inspection is carried out by a trained technician using a high-definition camera with LED lighting on a 32 ft extendable line. You watch the live picture on screen, and we capture photos and video you can keep. A camera inspection costs $149 per inspection and can be booked on its own or added to our air duct cleaning service.

If the inspection shows lint buildup in your dryer line, we can follow up with professional dryer vent cleaning. If we find heavy dust or odours, we may recommend cleaning followed by air duct sanitization. And if nothing needs attention, you get peace of mind and proof that your system is in good shape.

When should you book a camera inspection? Most homeowners call us in one of these situations: after buying a new or older home, after a basement finish or kitchen renovation, when one room is always colder or warmer than the rest, when allergy symptoms get worse indoors, or when there is a musty or burnt smell as the furnace starts.

A camera inspection also makes sense when you are unsure whether your last duct cleaning was done properly. Some low-cost companies only vacuum the vent openings and leave the main lines untouched. Our camera shows how clean your system really is, deep inside the lines where it counts.

Older homes deserve special attention. Ductwork that is 20 or 30 years old may have loose seams, aging tape, old insulation or sections that were changed during past renovations. A camera inspection lets you see how the original ducts have held up over time, without opening walls or ceilings, and helps you plan upgrades or repairs with real information instead of assumptions.

For property managers and landlords, recorded footage is a simple way to document the condition of the ductwork and dryer vents between tenants. It gives you a clear before-and-after record and helps you plan maintenance instead of reacting to complaints.

Honest answers matter to us. We never use the camera to pressure you into a service you do not need. The footage speaks for itself, and the decision is always yours.

Benefits of a Duct Camera Inspection

See the real condition

A camera inspection gives you clear photos and video of the inside of your ducts, so you make decisions based on facts instead of guesswork.

Find hidden blockages

Debris, loose insulation and crushed sections that restrict airflow are spotted quickly, helping you fix rooms that never heat or cool properly.

Avoid paying for unneeded work

If your ducts are already clean, the footage proves it. You only book cleaning or repairs when the camera shows they are really needed.

Catch problems early

Disconnected joints, moisture stains and pest activity are much cheaper to deal with when a camera inspection finds them early.

Protect your HVAC system

Clear, well-connected ductwork lets your furnace and air conditioner run efficiently, which helps extend their lifespan and lower energy bills.

Buy or sell with confidence

A camera inspection is a smart step when buying a home, giving you a recorded view of the ductwork and dryer vent before you move in.

Hidden Problems a Camera Inspection Reveals

Mould and moisture stains

Condensation and leaks can leave dark stains inside ductwork. A camera inspection helps you spot signs of moisture so the source can be addressed by the right professional.

Pests and nests

Rodent droppings, insect activity and bird nests in duct lines or dryer exits spread odours and contaminants into the air you breathe.

Disconnected or crushed ducts

Joints that have separated or flex ducts that have collapsed waste heated air into walls and ceilings, leaving some rooms cold.

Renovation debris

Drywall dust, wood chips and construction leftovers often end up inside vents after renovations and blow through the house for months.

Lint-clogged dryer vents

Lint packed inside a dryer vent line is a serious fire risk and makes your dryer run longer and use more energy on every load.

Heavy dust buildup

Thick layers of dust on duct walls reduce airflow and keep recirculating allergens, pet dander and fine particles through every room.

FAQs About Camera Inspection

How much does a duct camera inspection cost?

A camera inspection with BlueGuard costs $149 per inspection. You can book it as a standalone service or add it to an air duct cleaning or dryer vent cleaning appointment. Taxes are extra (HST in Ontario, GST and QST in Quebec).

Homes outside our regular service areas may have an Out of Service Areas charge. Call us at 1-844-498-8364 or request a free quote online, and we will confirm the exact price for your home before booking.

For a typical home, a camera inspection takes about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. The time depends on how many vents you want inspected, how many floors your home has and whether the dryer vent is included.

When the camera inspection is added to an air duct cleaning visit, we usually inspect first, show you the footage, then clean. That way you can see exactly how much buildup was removed.

Our inspection camera runs on a 32 ft extendable line with built-in LED lighting. That is long enough to reach from a vent opening into most branch lines and well into the main trunk line in a standard home.

For long runs or larger homes, we inspect from several access points, such as different vents and the furnace area, so the camera inspection covers as much of the system as possible.

It is not required, but it is a smart choice. A camera inspection shows whether your ducts actually need cleaning and how heavy the buildup is. If the ducts are already clean, you save the cost of a cleaning you do not need.

Many customers also like having the before footage. After the cleaning, we can run the camera again so you can compare the results side by side.

Yes. A duct camera inspection can show dark spots, staining and signs of moisture that may point to mould growth inside your ductwork. The footage helps you understand where the problem is and how widespread it looks.

Please note that BlueGuard provides inspection and cleaning only. We do not offer mould remediation, so if the camera shows signs of mould, we will explain what we see and recommend that you contact a mould remediation specialist.

Absolutely. During the camera inspection, the live picture is displayed on a screen so you can watch alongside the technician. We also capture photos and short videos of anything important, such as blockages, damage or heavy buildup.

Before we leave, we review the findings with you and share the images so you have a record for your own files, a home sale or an insurance conversation.

Yes. Dryer vent lines are one of the most common places we inspect. The camera shows lint buildup, crushed or kinked sections, loose connections and nests or blockages at the exterior exit.

Because a blocked dryer vent can be a fire hazard, we recommend a dryer vent camera inspection if your clothes take longer than one cycle to dry, the laundry room feels hot, or you notice a burning smell when the dryer runs.

BlueGuard offers duct and dryer vent camera inspection across Ottawa, Gatineau, Oshawa and Durham Region, and Montreal and Laval, along with many nearby communities in Ontario and Quebec.
