TLDR: Hired BlueGuard to clean the clogged exit vent. They did not clean it properly. The exit vent is still completely clogged, unusable and would only refund me 50% ($170!). Context: My dryer has been showing "Airway blocked" errors. I own a vent cleaning kit, but I can't reach the exit mesh because the vent terminates on the roof. That roof exit was the main reason I contacted this company. I was quoted for a full dryer vent cleaning, from the dryer all the way to the roof exit, including testing the vent afterward for $299+tax. Techs came to my home, argued with me on where my vent exit is. I explained to him that I hired a contractor to redirect the dryer vent to the roof instead of where the soffit is due to freezing in winter. He didn't believe me, he said that it was not on the roof, he went in my attic and told me there are no vent pipes going to the roof. I had to climb in the attic myself to show him where it is. He then said he could clean both ends from the attic, never went on the roof, cleaned from the attic, took payment, and left. The dryer is still showing the same "Airway blocked" error. Now that I know that I could access the roof exit through the attic, I put a snake camera up the vent line from the attic, and the roof exit mesh is still completely covered in lint. A photo is attached. The small amount of light visible is only there because I scraped some of the lint away with my fingers. The quoted work, cleaning the full line to the roof exit and testing the vent, was not completed. The way they "tested" is turned on the dryer for like a few minutes and called it "tested". The dryer complains about airways being blocked after running for like 30 mins. Explained everything to them and they would only give me 50% refund. Saying that they can have their tech call me and tell me what they did. I'm not sure how that would change the fact that I'm left the problem with the same exact state before they even started. Net result: I paid about $170 and still have the same problem I reached out for.

We're sorry the dryer is still showing an error, but some important facts are missing from this review. Our technician checked the attic because he needed to confirm where the vent actually exits before cleaning it. That was never meant as an argument; it was part of doing the job correctly. The line was cleaned, and we have before and after photos of the work. When you contacted us about the error, we offered to send a technician back at no charge to check the roof exit and confirm whether any lint was still there. You refused that visit and told us not to come back. We still gave you a 50% refund without being able to inspect the vent again. Our offer to return and check the exit still stands, and you can call us directly or email us at sales@blueguard.ca
They were very nice, worked fast, and were communicative throughout the process. I had them come clean the air ducts, the ventilation fans and sanitize the furnace in preparation for winter, they did a good job and all together I found their prices to be very reasonable.

Most dryer fires begin with something you never notice a blockage in the vent, clogged with lint. One load is too many, and then it ignites. Contact Carroll today for dryer vent cleaning in Carleton. It takes less than an hour. It could save your home.
One job, done properly. The full vent line cleared end to end, never rushed, never half-finished. We complete it and we go. That is the whole promise.
Your price is settled before we touch a thing. Most Carleton Place homes are finished comfortably inside the hour, and the quote you get is the price you pay, nothing tacked on at the door.
Lint narrows the duct season after season until the fire risk becomes very real. A single proper clean takes all of it out, and your home is measurably safer the moment we finish.
Riverside century homes, working farmhouses, rural acreages, the duct setups out here are nothing like suburban Ottawa, and we plan for that. Lanark County winters are hard on exterior caps, so we check yours on every visit, always included.
A full inspection, a complete clean, a live airflow test, and a straight account of what we found. We do not leave until it is right.
Clothes taking forever to dry? Dryer running hot or throwing off an odd smell? Usually that is not the dryer, it is a blocked vent. In Carleton Place, with so many older vent setups and those long, cold Lanark County winters, the blockage creeps up quicker than you would expect. BlueGuard clears the vent step by step, missing nothing, and we are typically done inside the hour.
A full check comes first, dryer, hose, duct line, exterior cap. Every Carleton Place home is different, so we know exactly what we are cleaning before we begin.
We ease the dryer out, disconnect the vent, and cover the floors and laundry area. Taking time on the prep is what lets us reach the hidden lint while your home stays clean throughout.
Out come the heavy-duty brushes and high-pressure air, clearing the whole vent from behind the dryer to the outside wall. Old house with a long run or a brand-new build, both get the same deep clean. Nothing left behind.
A Lanark County winter can seal the outdoor vent over in no time, which is why we clear and check it on every visit, included at no extra cost. Plenty of companies skip that step; for us it is non-negotiable.
With everything clean we reconnect the dryer, run it, and confirm strong airflow before we head out. One cycle in you will feel it, a cooler dryer and a safer home. That is how it should be done.

These are the signs worth paying attention to:
One of these is a nudge. More than one is a reason to call BlueGuard today.
A lint-packed dryer vent is one of the leading causes of household fires — and in Carleton Place, a mix of century homes and new subdivisions means vent runs that are often long, aging, or both. Lint is highly flammable, and even a partial blockage raises the risk every load.
A clogged vent also forces the dryer to run longer and hotter, driving up hydro bills and wearing the appliance out early. Many Carleton Place homes haven’t had the vent cleaned in years.
BlueGuard cleans dryer vents across Carleton Place and the surrounding Lanark County communities with transparent pricing, same-week availability, and airflow testing before and after.
